Why Choose Strutmasters
Why Choose Strutmasters
The Suburban's original air suspension system is made up of assorted parts that must always work together. Strutmasters' air-to-non-air suspension conversion kit eliminates this expensive and inconvenient dependency. The kit, made in the USA, includes two rear shocks and two front shocks for the Suburban. Car enthusiasts appreciate that the kit is installed in as little as one hour per wheel, thanks to the accompanying detailed instruction manual. The parts are of excellent quality and backed by Strutmasters' 1-year warranty. Customers enjoy top-notch customer service, including the assistance of ASE-certified technicians and our online installation videos. But of all the benefits of the kit, the low price is what seals the deal for the majority of customers. A closer look at the cost of the kit, compared to dealership direct replacement and individual aftermarket part installation, will prove just how considerable the savings are.

Replaced Components
The 2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 is built with the following suspension components:
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Air/Electronic/Magnetic Shocks (x2)- Shocks that contain an air bladder or magnets whose dampening capabilities are controlled by the suspension control module.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Coil Springs (x4)- Coil springs hold the vehicle up but be careful, they are rated for and designed to work with the rest of the suspension system, so when you change air shocks to passive shocks, then you will need a different rated coil spring that works well with the new type of shocks.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Shock Absorbers (x2) - A metal tubing filled with gas-charged hydraulic fluid that is connected to the wheel of a vehicle in order to reduce the effects of vertical travel on a rough surface which controls the bounciness, and therefore comfort, of a vehicle.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Height Sensors (x2) - A linkage located near each wheel of a vehicle with any electronic suspension that, either mechanically or electronically, constantly measures the height of the vehicle, and reports this information back to the control module so that the computer can identify if changes in height need to be adjusted accordingly. The ride height sensor is a moving part, and like all moving parts, it will eventually wear out.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Compressor - The compressor creates/sends pressurized to active suspension components. When the air suspension starts leaking, the compressor/pump starts working harder to try to keep the system inflated. By the time air suspension leaks down completely, sitting the vehicle on its tires, the compressor will either have failed or be well on its way to full failure. Buying replacement struts and taking the time to install them only to find out the compressor still needs to be replaced can be very frustrating, time-consuming, and expensive.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Dryer Assembly - Used to keep moisture out of air lines and air springs in order to prevent freezing and internal cracking of these parts. Once air suspension starts leaking, moisture will build up throughout the air system. Moisture damages the air suspension from the inside. The dryer will need to be replaced in order to eliminate the moisture and prevent any further damage.
2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500 Suspension Control Module - A computer that is responsible for the operations of the air suspension system and maintaining the vehicle's correct ride height.
Suspension Failure Signs
There are classic signs that indicate a failed or leaking air suspension system on the 2000-2013 Chevrolet Suburban 2500. Proper identification of these signs can help you catch a bad suspension before it is too late.
The most noticeable is a sudden uneven height difference between different sides of the Suburban. Look for one sagging and one inflated end (typically the rear and front, respectively). This can give the illusion that the Suburban is squatting down in the rear. The Suburban may slightly lean from one side to the other. If the Suburban is having any issues with reaching and maintaining its proper ride height, a bad suspension is likely. If these imbalances are left unchecked, the air compressor will wear out. This is suspension total failure. A suspension warning light turns on, in the instrument cluster. When suspension failure is this advanced, an expensive direct replacement or repair is the only option.
