Replaced Components
The2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500is built with the following suspension components: 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Air/Magnetic Shocks (x2)- This pair or shocks are controlled electronically by the Avalanche's suspension control module. They use magnets or air bladders to dampen the ride. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Coil Springs (x2)- The coil springs featured on your Chevrolet are designed to work with an active suspension. In order to convert your vehicle to a passive suspension you will need new springs which are designed to handle the load of a passive suspension. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Torsion Bar- This horizontal bar This adjustable horizontal bar is located at the front of the vehicle. It holds the front end of the Suburban off of the ground. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Shock Absorbers (x2)- These shock absorbers are metal tubes connected to the wheels of your Chevy. They are filled with a gas-charged hydraulic fluid in order to limit the effects that travel over bumpy road surfaces have on the ride and the vehicle itself 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Air Lines- These hoses bring pressurized air out of the compressor and into the air springs. This air is used to inflate the springs and keep the ride at the proper height. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Solenoids (x4)- The solenoids on your Avalanche are in charge of regulating the air pressure in each air strut. They are plastic components located next to each wheel, joining the electrical and mechanical components to the computer system. They are one of several components that begin to leak as they age. This leakage will lead to excess stress on other components and cause them to wear out more quickly. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Compressor- The air compressor on your Chevy is the component which generates the pressurized air needed to inflate the air struts. It also pumps that air into the system. It is often the most expensive component in an air suspension system to service or replace and bears the majority of the load when other components start to leak or fail. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Dryer Assembly- Moisture causes serious damage to air suspensions, either by freezing or leading to cracking of the air lines or air springs. For this reason, Chevrolet has built in a dryer assembly to keep moisture out of the system. It should be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to ensure the system stays free of moisture. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 Suspension Control Module- The suspension control module electronically controls the amount of air pressure in the air springs and oversees the health of the system. It is an expensive component that is vital to its proper function and usually can only be replaced, not repaired. 2000-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 O-rings- A proper seal where the air lines connect is necessary to keep the air suspension system running efficiently. These o-rings maintain that seal, which also keeps the air lines and air bags free of dust and other debris.

Suspension Failure Signs
Early detection of air suspension issues is key to avoiding the crippling expense of major repairs and damage to other parts of the vehicle. Fortunately, there are several clear indicators that your air suspension has started to go. The most visible sign of trouble is a difference in height between two sides of the vehicle. On the Avalanche this is most likely a sagging rear end with an inflated front, but it may also show up as a difference between the left and right side of the vehicle. Another indicator could be the sound of the compressor running too loudly or too long during its compression cycles. Your Avalanche also features a warning light. This will illuminate when the problem has become very severe. Once the car is unable to maintain its proper ride height, this is evidence of total failure of the system and a full replacement is likely necessary.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Front Electronic Shocks ($318 /Front Shocks)
$396/Rear Shocks) + Coil Spring ($86/Coil Spring) + Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($270) = TOTAL: Over $1,638 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
The air suspension system and electronic shocks on the Chevrolet Avalanche relies on a complex system of parts functioning in unison for the system to work. Once the air suspension starts to fail, owners are in for a nearly endless string of costly repairs. Converting to a Strutmasters system eliminates the need for all these parts and instead replaces them with our exclusive Premium Steel Coil Springs and custom tuned passive shocks. All of our products are designed and assembled at our family owned facility in North Carolina to ensure the highest quality. Each kit is packaged with detailed instructions and you can find corresponding YouTube videos which allow even the novice mechanic to install these new shocks and springs in as little as one hour per wheel. Should you run into any issues during installation, our customers have access to a tech support phone line. Get piece of mind and a huge savings, choose Strutmasters! Let's compare your three options and their price tags for repairing your failed suspension: Fixing the air suspension system and electronic shocks with Original Equipment parts at the GM dealership; installing aftermarket suspension replacement parts piece by piece; or getting rid of the active suspension headaches forever by installing a Strutmasters conversion kit.
