Why Choose Strutmasters
Why Choose Strutmasters
With a little research, you can quickly determine the factory air suspension system on the Ford Expedition was built to fail. Replacing air struts, an air compressor and the electronics required to make the factory system work properly is very expensive -- more than the value of the vehicle itself in some cases! About 98% of our customers choose to convert their costly factory air suspension system to our exclusive coil over strut replacement suspension system. The Strutmasters conversion is assembled here at our headquarters in North Carolina with our Trademarked GlideRide Technology. We use premium American-Made steel coil springs that are wound at room temperature to give them optimum strength and consistent height. We use specifically tuned gas-charged struts to give you a ride as close to the factory air system as possible. Our suspension replacement systems support your vehicle with high quality steel coil springs and they won't leave your Expedition sagging due to leaking struts or a bad compressor. Our springs come pre-set, which means your Expedition will sit at the proper ride height from the first day to the last. Our conversion kits are a direct fit, bolt-off/bolt-on application. There are no necessary modifications, and this product comes with a Strutmasters exclusive Light Eliminating Module (LEM). This module offers the only 100% light out solution offered on the market. All Strutmasters conversion kits come with a Lifetime Limited Warranty. Strutmasters has ASE certified suspension experts to not only help you get the right parts the first time, but also provide any help that you, your dealership, or your local mechanic may need during installation. Replaced Components
The 2005-2006 Ford Expedition is built with the following suspension components: 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Air Springs (x4)- These rubber air sacks are inflated with pressurized air sacks, allowing the suspension to hold the vehicle up off of its ground and its wheels. Behind almost every air suspension leak is a faulty air bag. Once one goes bad, the others are quick to follow, so they should all be replaced at the same time. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Struts (x4)- These metal tubes support the weight of the vehicle and are attached to each wheel. They are filled with a gas-charged hydraulic fluid that helps it absorb the force of the wheel traveling over uneven surfaces. When connected to the air spring, the entire assembly is referred to as an air strut. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Height Sensors (x4)- One of these linkages can be found next to each wheel of a vehicle with an electronically-controlled suspension. Either mechanically or electronically, this component is constantly measuring the height of the vehicle and reporting that information to the control module. It is one of the many components of an air suspension that is a moving part and will wear out eventually. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Air Lines- These hoses bring pressurized air out of the compressor to deliver it to the air bags where it is used to inflate them to adjust the height of the vehicle. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Solenoids (x4)- These L-shaped plastic component is what regulates the air pressure in each air spring. They will eventually start to leak with age and cause excess wear and tear on other components as they try to compensate, namely the compressor. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Compressor- This compressor uses mechanical force to generate pressurized air before pumping it out to the air bags. When other components start to leak or wear out, it is the compressor that often picks up the slack and overworks itself to keep the system inflated. It is one of the most difficult and expensive parts of an air suspension to restore or replace. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Dryer Assembly- Moisture is one of the main enemies of an air suspension, destroying its components by from the inside out by freezing or cracking. Your Expedition employs a dryer to keep moisture out of the components. It should be replaced whenever the compressor is replaced to keep the system dry and efficient. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition Suspension Control Module- This computer manages all of the operations of an air suspension, from ensuring the correct ride height is maintained to taking diagnostics. 2005-2006 Ford Expedition O-rings- These little rubber washers keep the seals where the air lines connect on your Expedition. They are cheap and vital to keeping a clean, efficient air system and should be replaced whenever the system is serviced.
Suspension Failure Signs
Have you walked out to your garage or driveway in the morning ready to take on the day only to find that the suspension on your Ford Expedition is “slammed” on the ground? If you have, then you have experienced the most common sign of a failed air suspension system -- a sudden loss of ride height. Excessive cycling of the air compressor, noticeable changes in sound or volume when the air compressor cycles, and the tell-tale warning message on the instrument cluster are all symptoms that your active suspension is going bad and needs to be either fixed or replaced. Most of the time, the end result is the same. The air compressor stops working, the air struts fail to inflate, all leading to one thing: the complete failure of your air suspension. When the air suspension fails, your Expedition will lose the ability to maintain its proper ride height, and will usually begin to sag as it will most likely be leaking. Without repair, your Expedition will eventually end up slammed on the emergency bump stops, rendering it unsafe to drive. If you have noticed any of these common signs of air suspension failure, the good news is Strutmasters is here to help! We have the best quality suspension replacement system on the market -- an option that 98% of our customers choose! We also carry replacement air struts, air springs and air compressors for those customers who decide to go down the road of repairing the air suspension. The Suspension Experts have you covered.
