Replaced Components
The 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator is built with the following suspension components: 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Air Springs (x4)- Instead of a metal coil spring, your Navigator's air suspension employs "air springs" to cushion the ride. These rubber air bags use pressurized air to support the weight of the vehicle. If you suspect a leak in your air suspension, look at these first as they are by and large the number one cause of all air suspension leaks. They age at the same rate, so once one is leaking the others will need to be replaced soon as well. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Struts (x4)- Filled with a gas-charged hydraulic fluid, these metal cylinders are connected to each wheel. They absorb the bounces from the road, making the ride more smooth and limited wear and tear on the vehicle. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Height Sensors (x4)- These linkages can be found adjacent to each wheel. They constantly monitor the height of the ride at each wheel and report this information back to the suspension control module. These sensors are a moving part and as such, will ultimately wear out and need replacing. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Air Lines- These hoses carry the pressurized air generated by the compressor into the air springs, allowing them tobe inflated. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Solenoids (x4)- These plastic components, found close to each air spring, are in charge of regulating the air pressure in the air bags. These parts eventually begin to leak with age, which will in turn cause the compressor to work overtime. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Compressor- Like all air compressors, the compressor used in your Navigator generates pressurized air and pumps it out to suspension components. When other elements in the air suspension system start to leak or wear down, it is usually the compressor that tries to compensate. This leads to early failure of the compressor, one of the most expensive components in the air suspension to replace. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Dryer Assembly- The dryer assembly is what keeps moisture from building up inside the air springs and air lines. Moisture damages air suspension components by freezing or leading to cracking. The dryer is usually replaced along with the compressor. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator Suspension Control Module- This small computer electronically manages the ride height of the vehicle. It also doubles as the diagnostic tool for the air suspension. 2005-2006 Lincoln Navigator O-rings- Though small and inexpensive, the o-rings in your air suspension keep the system sealed. This allows the system to remain as efficient as possible and free of debris. Therefore, it is important to replace these o-rings whenever the air suspension is serviced to ensure proper seals at all times.

Suspension Failure Signs
Does it feel like your 05-06 Lincoln Navigator 4x4 might have some suspension issues? Ride not feeling as smooth as it once did? Even before your suspension warning light illuminates, there are several signs to look for to see if it might be time to service your Navigator's air suspension. The first and most obvious sign would be a height differential in the vehicle. Most often this is a "rear sag" which makes the car look like it's squatting down. Sometimes, though, it can be between the driver and passenger side of the vehicle, causing the Navigator to look like it's "leaning" from one side to the other. You may also notice a few inches in overall loss of ride height. If you listen carefully, you may hear that the compressor is running for too long in each cycle, or too loudly overall. This would be a sign that there is a leak somewhere in the system and the compressor is trying to compensate. Early detection is the key to avoiding the danger and expense of total suspension failure.

OEM Replacement Cost
'+ Struts ($460/strut) + Air Spring ($520/air bag) + Compressor and Dryer Assembly ($720) = TOTAL: Over $4,600 (and that doesn't even include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).

Aftermarket Replacement Cost
'+ Front Air Strut Assemblies ($699.00/pair) + Rear Air Strut Assemblies ($769/pair) + Compressor ($200) + Dryer Assembly ($40.00) = TOTAL: Over $1,700 (and that still doesn't include replacing electronic components that are known to fail such as the height sensors).
The original air suspension system on the 05-06 Lincoln Navigator is made up of assorted parts that must always function in sync in order to be effective. If one part is out of order, the suspension is not working properly. This gets expensive, as multiple trips to the Lincoln dealership service center start to add up quickly. We created our air to non-air suspension conversion kit to eliminate this dependence on complicated electrical components. This kit, FX24FM2, includes four completely pre-assembled coil-over struts that are installed with only five bolts per strut. DIYers love that the kit is installed in about one hour per wheel. We designed the kit to save time, frustration, and money. In fact, the low price is what convinces most of our customers to make the switch when they're deciding between choosing an air vs non-air suspension system. Review the price comparison below for your options when you have a failed air suspension system: that of repairing your air suspension system directly at the Lincoln dealer, that of installing aftermarket air suspension parts on your Navigator individually, and that of getting rid of the faulty air ride headache for good by installing a Strutmasters coil-over suspension conversion kit today.
